Capacity, not equipment, is usually what limits how many development routes a small laboratory can run at once. BIOCAP addresses that directly by funding two permanent qualified positions: a Research Director from January 2026, and a Biologist from May 2027.
The result is a fully autonomous internal research unit rather than a team that depends on project-by-project contracting. It also means permanent scientific employment in the Algarve, in a region where qualified biotechnology roles are scarce and researchers often have to leave to find them.
The project is registered under operation code ALGARVE-FSE+-03478600, within the ALGARVE-2025-29 call for job creation and micro-entrepreneurship.
